September 27, 2004 - We have spent the past 8 months growing
our business of Web Hosting and Web site design. This projuect has
been worked on, but we have not updated the site in a while. It
has been decided that we need to build a conventional 'cabin' so
that we have a place to stay while the boys and I work on the berm
house(s). We settled on the eight-sided octogon shape for the small
cabin. It will serve as headquarters for the building of the underground
structures and a place to cool off or get a shower.
Jennifer insists on a place that she would be comfortable in. Since
that does not include tents, a wooden structure will be build. In
the future, we hope that it will attract our families to visit us
and stay in this guest cabin when they come.

| December 1, 2003 - I spent the Thanksgiving vacation
measuring the property and the trees on the property that will need
to be removed for the first building project. I have been drawing
plans for the past month and making myself a general pest about
it. I am just very excited!! Tonight, I redesign this site to include
the progress of the new berm house and its plans. You can even see
the detailed plans that I have drawn to date. I want to get enough
information together to run by a structural engineer to make sure
it will work. The hobbit house will be set aside with minor improvements
over time. I will be focusing on the first cottage indefintely,
or at least until it is done. |
| November 18, 2003 - Since we first looked into buying
this property, I have refrained from starting with a bermed house
on the property because Jen was uncomfortable with the thought.
I planned to build a small conventional cabin, then from there,
build my berm home. We will not be living in the home on a full
time basis, so I expect it to take a long time to build.
Over the past several weeks, she has learned about bermed homes
and has now agreed to build the first cabin as a berm home. Next
week, I will be breaking ground! |
