The ground around the property is rich in beautiful
stone. As we dig, I plan to sift out enough gravel to drain
the water away from the sides and bottoms of the berm house. Also,
I am looking for enough rock to face the exposed brick on the back
of the cabin with insulation in between.
To sift the earth quicker and more efficiently, I think I should
sort 2 sized of stone out at the same time. This sifter will do
just that.
As the earth falls through the sifter, it passes two different
screens. The top is a larger mesh, maybe two inches in the opennings.
This will hold the larger stone that will be used for walls and
fireplaces.
The next layer will have one inch or smaller holes. This will catch
the gravel used in the drainage systems throughout construction.
The earth that is suitable for top soil will pass through and fall
on the ground below, ready for distribution where needed.
After some of the earth is sifted, the top screen folds up to the
left, dempting it's load on the left side of the sifter and the
second screen is free to dump it's load on the right.
The whole screen system will hang on four eyebolts, allowing about
three to six inches of movement. This is based on a design I have
previously used.
